Hardware Setup Checklist
A step-by-step technical guide for safely wiring your first off-grid sovereign AI node.
## Sovereign Lab Initialization: Safe Hardware Setup
Follow this sequence to avoid short circuits and ensure maximum component lifespan.
### 1. Battery Preparation
- **Voltage Check:** Verify battery voltage with a multimeter before connecting.
- **Top-Balancing:** If using multiple batteries in parallel, ensure they are at the same state of charge.
### 2. Controller to Battery (CRITICAL)
- **Sequence Matters:** Always connect your Charge Controller to your Battery **BEFORE** connecting solar panels. Most controllers need battery voltage to "wake up" and prevent internal damage.
- **Fusing:** Install a high-current fuse (e.g., 100A-150A) on the positive cable between the battery and the controller.
### 3. Solar Panel Wiring
- **MC4 Seals:** Ensure MC4 connectors are fully clicked in to prevent moisture ingress.
- **PV Breaker:** Install a DC breaker between the solar array and the controller to allow for easy maintenance.
### 4. Inverter Initialization
- **Pre-Charging:** For large inverters, use a pre-charge resistor to avoid massive sparks when connecting to the battery bank (common with high-capacitance inverters).
- **Grounding:** Ensure the inverter chassis is grounded according to local safety guidelines.
